I was very pleased to find the exact style, size and color frame I needed to frame a colorful expressionistic type painting. The frame is the style of those referred to as "barnwood" found in stores selling ready made frames, but I could not find the exact size and color I needed for this particular painting. I bought the frame in black, it is a weathered textured black totally in line with the concept of barnwood. There are two frame colors offered, so buyers should be careful to add the color they want to their cart as I believe those who said the color is not what was represented on the site accidentally selected the other color on offer. To address some of the other issues raised by reviewers, yes the frame includes acrylic rather than glass, which is clearly stated in the description...I preferred glass prior to ordering, but b/c this frame offered everything else I needed, I went ahead and ordered it, figuring if the acrylic bothered me I would just get a piece of glass cut cheaply at a glass company to replace it. Even if the cut glass cost $25 or $30 (likely price based on my experience replacing glass I broke in a smaller frame), this would still keep my total cost for this do it yourself frame project five to ten times lower than a custom frame. However I did not need to incur the extra cost, b/c once I framed my picture I could not even tell that it was acrylic and not glass, except for the fact that it was much lighter to handle for hanging, which was an obvious plus! One needs to be careful when laying the frame down to put in the picture, I would recommend doing so on a towel or other soft surface...I experienced very slight splintering, which probably would not have been noticeable once hung, but being somewhat obsessive, I took a sharpie and smoothed out the splinters. If you want a slick custom frame, you should probably just pay the cost for one, but in terms of cost and utility, this frame provided me with excellent value and I highly recommend it.This is the 2nd time that I have ordered these frames, years apart. They remain my favorites. They are solid, not cheap looking in any way. Their shipping/packaging is superb. I highly recommend them. They make our pictures/art really stand out.I’ve been buying my frames for years and they have always been fabulous!!!! Also whenever I have questions, customer service has been spectacular!!! Will continue to purchase. Thank you!!!!!Given the mixed reviews on this product I was very pleasantly surprised when it arrived and it was exactly what I wanted! It fit my print perfectly. Some reviews mention the "cheap plexglass." I prefer the plexiglass since it is much less likely to shatter/crack than glass. And once you take the protective covering off it, it looks just as nice. Some reviews mentioned poor packaging - mine was packaged very well, so I trust that they were the exception. Many reviews mention something to the effect of "unfinished" wood. That is true. It is however, all real wood (Poplar - so not a hard wood...but still much better than plastic or some of the fake woods out there). I wanted a rustic, simple, rough looking frame, and that is exactly what I got. It is plenty sturdy. Anyone who is worried about splinters must be running their hands along the frame WAY to much. Yes you could get a splinter if you tried; but if you handle the frame carefully (as you should handle any frame!) you'll be fine. SUMMARY: if you're looking for a very smooth, "finished" frame...this is not for you. If you like simple & rustic, you'll probably like this. One review I read mentioned that the backing was just cardboard. This is true, and is probably the only negative review I agree with. But it does the job, and once it is on the wall, no one can see it. All the little metal tabs that hold it in place are a little annoying, but using a spoon to pry them up and push them back down makes it real easy! And you should only have to do that once.Bottom Line: Simple, solid, rustic looking frame. GREAT product considering the cost. Most people with basic carpentry skills & a few tools could build one, but you would spend just as much on materials + it would take some time. This frame is amazing! I ordered this frame for a beautiful hand drawn portrait I had made for my best friend after the passing of her dog. The frame arrived very quick and was packaged VERY secure. Once I opened the package, I was in shock because of how beautiful the frame was. I was extremely impressed by the quality of the frame and durability and affordable price. It is hard to find a sturdy, beautiful yet affordable frame. The frame does have a bit of weight, but this is a good thing because I could instantly tell it was amazing quality. I love it so much, I actually just placed an order to buy a second one, larger in size. I had an issue with shipping price coming out oddly high prior to placing my second order. When I contacted the company I got a kind and prompt response and the issue was instantly resolved. Not only is there product even better than the pictures show, but their customer service is fantastic as well. I highly recommend this product and any product from this seller, and personally will be continuing to order from them in the future. The frame looks fine -- definitely not a cheap look, but not high quality. The look is, I think, just a bit better than you'd expect for this price. Upon closer inspection, you notice the softness and poor integrity of the wood. I dealt with lots of splintering and exposed unpainted wood (evident as soon as you open the box and start handling the frame) by touching up many spots using a crayola marker -- and the results were quite good. My guess is that most buyers need to include this touch up step and will find it easy to complete with nearly any similarly colored marker. The other steps include unbending and rebending lots of tabs and (I missed this step initially and had to start over) removing a protective film from both sides of the plastic window. All in all, I am quite satisfied with the outcome for this price.Loading the print for the first time involvesExactly as advertised.
