Made in the USA ... as far as I know. Exactly as described. Easy to assemble. Mind you my son-in-law put it together for me, but didn't seem to have any issues even with me rambling on and distracting him. A powered screwdriver was in use.No creakiness. The wooden boards run length-wise similar to a standard bench, which makes it more comfortable for sleeping, since they run the length of the body. It's super sturdy. My only complaint is the space between boards in the seat and back area is 3.5 inches and 4.5 inches in the middle (between the seat and back). In a perfect world the boards would be wider or there would be less space between them. The construction itself works perfectly well for general use as extra seating or an extra guest sleeping solution. For everyday use, some extra support such as cardboard or coroplast sheets may be needed to fill those gaps. I would also recommend a non-slip futon grip pad or yoga mat for the seating area to keep your mattress in place so it isn't slipping out.Fortunately, any futon mattress will work with this frame. And I do mean any, from a Japanese style floor mattress, to a cheap 6 in. futon mattress, to an expensive innerspring mattress, to whatever your heart desires. It is relatively easy to lift the back support beam into 1 of 4 seating positions from one side of the frame. It will fit into pre-formed grooves allowing your desired angle of comfort. If you have a heavier (thicker) futon mattress, you may need to remove the mattress to lift the back into the desired setting, physically move the frame back to where you would like it to be situated, and then place and adjust the mattress as necessary.I am a heavy person, weighing in at about 300 lbs with some back problems (spondylosis, osteoarthritis, etc.), living in a small apartment with limited space, and have found this to be a very viable solution to seating and sleeping arrangements.I actually prefer this over my standard full sized bed with a 12 inch foam mattress for sleeping.I have much less stiffness and more mobility after casually falling asleep on the futon watching a movie to sleeping on the bed that's supposed to support and align my spine. The futon mattress may need to be replaced from time to time, but this is a well crafted and sturdy frame that I expect to hold up for many years to come!Overall, I would recommend this frame over any other that is out there or I have tried in the past. And did I mention, made in the USA, enough said.Easy to put together. Not for a bigger person in regular sitting form. I may have just gotten the wrong mattress for it but I couldn't relax well. Layed out flat was nice and big. I'm not hecka big I'm 5'5 about 170 and just felt kinda stick sitting up. Again could have been the mattress.I decided to invest in a nice futon, and wanted a frame that would be nice enough to use as a bed for several months on end. The wooden slats are nice quality, and once assembled (it took an extra pair of hands to help with that), the frame seems sturdy and looks beautiful. Our Futon Frame Assembly ExperienceLots of longish screws; I hope you have an automatic screwdriver thingy. We didn't. The metal pegs did not slide in as shown in the video -- we had to pound them in and it took a while, so it might be good if you had a rubber mallet to help with that. We didn't; we were using a slightly domed butt of one of the screwdrivers. Sigh. A number of screw holes were not screw holes, just shallow indentations. When putting together the back and seat, it was very difficult indeed to meet and insert all the wooden pegs into their mate peg holes on both sides because it seemed the holes fell a little short for the task -- it turns out the last two pieces of both side and bottom sections had to be facing the right way when they look like they could up or down. You'll see what I mean. For this reason, it's a two person project at some points, for most people. I'm the Mrs. and it it took my grown daughter and I over 2 hours to put the frame together. That time could've been greatly reduced (!) with predrilled screw holes, all parts labeled (some were, some weren't), cleaner metal peg holes, and better instructions as well as just 2 more illustrative pictures. The video does not show everything. With that video being a little over six minutes, I thought it might take half an hour to put the frame together. Ha! Movie night became bedframe assembly night.But... I've had it for a while now and I love my futon bedframe! And Now, A Few Side Notes On Futon Mattresses, Protective Matress Encasement, And Fitted SheetsMost futon mattresses for sale in the US are made overseas and there are numerous complaints across the array of brands about chemical smells, like some unknown, noxious insecticides were involved. You find these complaints in the dissatisfied comment section from people who lived with their mattresses for a while. I have a feeling that a lot of people make reviews almost immediately instead of after getting them so don't let all the 4.5 star ratings fool you -- always check out the 2 and 1 star ratings too. If you see a pattern regarding certain complaints in those ratings, be concerned. Some people have even opened their foreign-made futon mattresses up, to get to the bottom of things, and found newspaper and cardboard inside, in the middle layers. 25 years ago, I could get a decently made futon mattress pretty much anywhere in the US. Nowadays, it's best to order one from a mom and pop shop in the US, if you're a US customer, after doing your research. This costs several times more plus huge shipping costs but in my opinion it's well worth it if you can do it. I chose the cotton and wool construction for my futon mattress and my full weighs 70 lbs. Quality futon mattresses do pack down to become firmer with time, just so you know. Also, I'm so glad I got the stretchy fitted matress sheets and low-profile mattress encasement. They fit so nicely and the stretchy fitted sheet stays on when changing futon position. Stretchy fitted sheets keep on fitting as the mattress packs down a bit over time.I bought this for my office and I am really happy with it! Assembly went really smooth, it took me about an hour by myself. The instructions are very easy to follow so there isn't much guess work. I weigh about 220 lbs and sitting on this, there is no creaking or give. I would highly suggest having a powered screwdriver, it will make your life a lot easier. The only "down" side to this frame is, it is pretty low to the ground (about a foot at the front). I would suggest getting a more plush mattress for it so you will be a bit higher off the floor.Shipping was really fast to me (took 3 days from order placement to delivery). If you're looking for something to use as a just in case or a place to take a break, I would highly recommend this frame.*EDIT* So I added the picture of the mattress. Sitting on this is now comfortable, I am high enough off the floor. I am 5'10"Very pleased sturdy and nice woodgood stuff, quality workmanship as far as I can tell.Love it
