As you see, I got 2 twin beds. They are for my 5 and 6 year olds.The 1st bed probably took me less than an hour to assemble. The 2nd bed maybe 30 minutes or less.If you don't have a rubber hammer/mallet, get one, this will be your best friend. And a drill bit that is smaller than the nails width to prevent wood from splitting.The wood itself is stainable. I used the bottom of the beds feet to test the color of stain. Then sealed it with 2 coats of polyurethane. (A little tip, stain the color you want before assembling.)If you want to get fancy, buy some Resin and fill all the cracks that are in the wood. I didn't do that because I kinda like the crack/separations.I used plywood as their bedboard, and screwed it into the frame. If there was any wobble in it before, there definitely isn't now. Then I applied a thick memory foam. The foot of the bed is still above the mattresses, just the way I wanted... if that's not how you want it, I am sure a boxspring and normal size mattress be higher than the foot of the bed.The diamond pattern on the foot and head was probably about the most difficult part. If they would have con-caved those end pieces a little so they sat in place as we are screwing them in, we would have had an easier time and it could have looked nicer... a messed up a couple times because I didn't line them up right.Overall, with a little tweaks here and there, I think this can be a good long term bed that could possibly last a few generations.
